Let's Go Bucs!

If you're a baseball fan, you won't want to miss the amazing opportunity that is taking place in Pittsburgh next week. But before I get into the details, I want to take a minute to share the book Dugout Devotions by Del Duduit.

The book shares 30 days of inspiration from MLB's best. Clint Hurdle (manager of the Pirates), Aaron Judge (outfielder for the NY Yankees), Brian Dozer (All-Star second baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers), Francisco Lindor (All-Star shortstop for the Cleveland Indians) and Andrew McCutchen are just a few contributors, sharing personal stories and encouragement to baseball fans everywhere.

I love this book because I've always believed that team sports teach life lessons. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. Teamwork is imperative for success. Keep trying and always do your best. When you strike out, control your emotions and thoughts. When you hit a homerun, celebrate with a humble heart. Use encouraging words to lift up teammates. These precepts, that prepare kids for success on and off the field, are portrayed so vividly and authentically in this book. My husband and I have been using Dugout Devotions as a tool to not only inspire our sports-loving son, but to instill the character traits we desire him to possess as he grows into a young adult.

After reading Dugout Devotions, I realized how these baseball stars are just like ordinary people, facing the same personal challenges and struggles in life. MLB players strikeout, too. Literally and figuratively. Yet, they keep stepping up to the plate. With headings like Grow Through Your Challenges, Breaking a Slump, and Be a Consistent Encourager, the book will enlighten and inspire everyone who reads it. Dugout Devotions has truly been a blessing for my family and me.

Now...about the amazing opportunity. On Saturday, May 4th, the author Del Duduit and Pirates Manager, Clint Hurdle will be signing Dugout Devotions at the Waterfront, Barnes & Noble in Pittsburgh, from 10:30 am to noon. Spend a day in Pittsburgh--meet Del and Clint in the morning, eat lunch at one of the many fabulous Pittsburgh restaurants, and then watch the Pirates play Oakland that evening at PNC Park. And that's not all. It's PNC's Annual Star Wars Night with fireworks after the game. I wish I could be there but my son has a baseball tournament. Go figure. I will, however, be at the Barnes & Noble Saturday morning to get my copy of Dugout Devotions signed. You can buy the book at the signing but if you want to read it beforehand, you can find it on Amazon.

Thank you for reading my blog. Hope to see you at the Barnes & Noble, May 4th.

Happy Reading and Let's Go Bucs!
